Poll #1669776 Prosecution for a future?

Would you prosecute a man who sexually abused you for years?

Yes, Definitely
No, definitely not
Depends if he's still a threat
Depends if you're strong enough
no point - its his word against yours
I'm at this point; do I or don't I?
I'm going to let you follow my journey through this decision

hi all!

where do you go online to get free journal articles? abstract ok, full text preferred :)

Nami Walks

I haven't posted in here for a long time but was wondering if you folks would like to participate in NAMI Walks

I was hoping that we could get together and start a team.

It's in October which also happens to be Mental Ilness Awareness Week October 4-10

Date for Meetup

This is what I'm thinking.

Sunday Nov. 2nd at Jerrys Famous Deli on Ventura Blvd around 5 pm.

Meet Up

So I guess it seems that it's time to talk about meeting up.
I can only make weekends now that I'm working.
So I suggest Saturday or Sunday.
Preferably in the Valley because I take public transportation.
It's a lot easier for me if I don't have to go to far.

My suggestions:
Citywalk (not the valley but I can get to it well enough)
Any restaurant on Ventura Blvd. I like jerry's deli.
A Starbucks or other coffee shop

Now that there are several members I figure we could introduce ourselves.

1. Just a little blurb about yourself.
2. If you are willing to meet in real life.
3. What activities you would like to see us do.
4. How you would like to participate ( event planning, publicity, treasurer, transportation, secretary, historian, etc.)
5. And any other comments or suggestions.

I am really looking forward to working with all of you! So I'll break the ice first~

1,I am a 27 year old Grad Student at the University of Chicago. I'm currently living in Los Angeles with family as I take care of some health problems. I will return to Chicago in a Year.  My interest in this group is to put on activities and work with the local non profits. I would love to eventually put on a concert for awareness. I feel a strong connection to music and art and would love to bring them together with my passion for advocacy.

2. I think it would be fun to have regular meetups.

3. Activities I've considered: making a zine or newsletter, participating in events the non profits put on, fund raising, group volunteering

4. I'll do whatever

5. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead

Idea for a Fund Raiser

I just found a new organization in Los Angeles that I would like to work with.

The Relational Center is a local non-profit specializing in diversifying the field of Psychology. The center trains future psychologists in cultural compentency. This is one of the most pressing issues facing Psychologists. We need to reach out to neglected communities recognizing their inherent strengths and give them culturally appropriate services.

It's a worthy cause and they currently need some funds. So as the first activity of this group I would like to do a fund raiser for them.
Any thoughts or comments?
